January Newsletter

January has seen the arrival of another beautiful pre-loved spinning wheel. This fully reconditioned second-hand spinning wheel is the ‘Delft’, made of solid oak and with easy to adjust Irish tension:

TheDelft spinning wheel has some very large bobbins, taking up to about 300 grams of yarn. The bobbin on the left is similar to that of the Delft wheel and has some of Kiki’s ‘Merino Rainbow Blaze’ spun on it, while the bobbin on the right is a standard Ashford bobbin and the yarn some of our Merino/Tencel spun together with grey Shetland for a marbled effect:

The new Moda Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs and Layer Cakes this month are ‘Blueberry Crumb Cake’ by Blackbird Designs:

The Lochcarron Quilters were shown an alternative way of making cathedral windows and this sparkling table runner was made by Sheila Cudby using some fabric from our Stof Christmas collection:

Due to a serious landslide the Lochcarron Quilters and the Lochcarron Spinners have been ‘split in half’ and although the group members will not let this affect their stitching and spinning, we do hope the situation will be resolved soon!
